Welcome!

Welcome to ``All things Richard Beck!``  From my Council activities to re-election priorities and other interests; you will find it here!

This site is created to display all the activities I am currently involved in and introduce projects that I aspire to do as well.  These are the things that are important to me.

My interests and beliefs are categorized on this website.  Peruse, investigate, enjoy!  As an elected member of your Warman City Council, I would like your feedback to issues that are important to you.  "I am your representative, your link pin, between policy issues and your personal concerns.  As I am sharing with you; I am confident you will share your insight with me.  Send me your comments and complete the surveys on this site; I hope to serve in meaningful and respectful discussion on issues important to each of us and serve to the community's benefit."

Foremost, I serve as City Councillor for Warman, SK; "a town with a past and a city with future."  I am proud and privileged to hold this office and the duties associated with it.  I love to showcase our community of Warman.  Here things are special!  This community is incredibly unique; we share a "town culture" in a "city centre."  Things here change quickly with housing development and the influx of population to our city; all the while, we get to know our neighbours and unite over our favourite past-times.  We are responsible home owners and parents, passionate about our recreation facilities, hard working and proud of the community we built.  I look at the pride we hold dear, Cy Warman, founder of our namesake and Brian King the fallen RCMP officer who loved Warman dearly; only to name a few.  We remember and respect those before us; for the kindness and love they showed in making the City of Warman, special!

I was first elected Town Councillor in 2009 and was re-elected as City Councillor in 2012 and 2016.  My portfolio duties have included being named Chairperson of Recreation and Chairperson for Planning and Development.   I have also served on Administration and Finance, Transportation Services & Utilities and Environment portfolios.

Accompanying 11 years of municipal service, I have completed the Local Government Authority Course at the Univerisity of Regina and the Municipal Leadership Program (MLDP).  I am currently serving as Northwest Director for Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities (SUMA).

Away from council, I actively volunteer and serve on several community boards:

  • Warman Community Association  (WCA).  Goal: Fundraising monies for city wide improvements.  Previous donations have included several improvements to the kitchen at the Brian King Centre, Gazebo at Prairie Oasis Park, 100 rentable tables to the Legends Centre, rescue boat for the Warman Fire Department, Warman High school Graduation Sponsorships and many other donations to community initiatives.

  • Warman Sports and Cultural Village Association. (WSCV)  Goal: Fundraising monies toward sport infrastructure in Warman including a specific fund to support a second rink at the Legends Centre.

I moved to Warman in 2002 and am proud to have purchased my first home here.  In 2008, I married my wife, Grace, and together we call Warman home.

I’m also a licensed Restricted and Non-restricted Firearm Instructor and Certified Saskatchewan Hunter Education Instructor with the Saskatchewan Association for Firearm Educators (SAFE).
